Bill De Blasio; The Quentessential Climate Change Democrat

Considering the largely unfounded doomsday climate-change hysteria coming from the left, it would stand to reason that Democratic leaders would be consistent with their own narrative that an apocalypse is coming if we don’t take drastic measures.  However, judging by the actions of these leading figures, they are either knowingly lying through their teeth and fooling everyday Americans to push forward their nonsense agenda, or are just despicable humans of the “do as I say, not as I do” variety (or both!).

Bill De Blasio epitomizes the “struggle” against climate change for the left.  In late May, De Blasio insisted that Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Change Accord would be “horribly destructive to the earth” and that being from New York “[Trump] should know better”.  Days later, De Blasio railed on his weekly radio spot that “Everyone in our own life needs to change our habits to start protecting the Earth.”  Lest we forget, this is the same Bill De Blasio that drives 12 miles each way five times a week to his personally preferred gym, despite the fact that there is another gym mere blocks away.  To make matters worse for the environment, De Blasio takes two SUVs, one with a horrid fuel efficiency at 20 mpg and the other even worse at 16 mpg.  When asked why he won’t do as he preaches and adjust his routine to save the environment, De Blasio claimed that “whether I go to the gym does not affect the policies that affect millions of people” and that his cars are “fuel-efficient” (reality disagrees).  To make the hypocrisy even worse, De Blasio had previously blasted New Yorkers for idling in their cars, despite the fact that his SUV fleet routinely leaves the engines going for over an hour while waiting for the mayor.

The hypocrisy is blinding.  The mayor first moaned about Trump’s decision despite the fact that he’s practically single-handedly destroying the environment with his weekday voyage.  De Blasio further called on New Yorkers to change their habits, saying that every single person needs to change their routine, but then defended his own jaunts by saying that he’s “not like everyone else” and that his expeditions are not doing any damage themselves.

But wait, there’s more!  Bill De Blasio will literally stop at nothing for the sake of convenience.  De Blasio consistently skips traffic with his private chopper, once even shutting down a little league baseball game for an hour so that he could skip the traffic that is plaguing his city and land his helicopter, all for a personal meeting with political funders.  Here’s a bright idea; fix the traffic so that you don’t need to use a helicopter and ruin a little league baseball game, or just change your routine like you called on all New Yorkers to do.  Or is that too much to ask, since you’re “not like everyone else”?  De Blasio is simultaneously doing the most to destroy the environment out of anyone in New York City and preaching the most about the threat of climate change.  Do as he says, not as he does.
